Ian and Rosemary have owned dogs for over twenty years and for most of that time they have had up to nine dogs in the household and at the moment it is 9, of which 3 are collies, 1 collie x husky, 4 lurchers and a toy poodle.

They have had dogs from various ages ranging from 7 weeks to 8 months and many have been rescue dogs.  The behavioural part of Ian’s training and understanding of dogs has come from that very diverse range of dogs, ages and different backgrounds.

The household is kept balanced with all the dogs living indoors in harmony with calm assertive energy being the key words for Ian and Rosemary establishing a calm submissive, but alert, state of mind in the dogs.

Ian has been helping people to understand their dogs for many years and feels that so much can be done for people and their dogs by simply showing and informing them how to communicate with their dog in a way that is natural to the dog and fully understood by the dog.

Unlike many people who deal with problem dogs, Ian believes that the most effective way to rehabilitate the dog and educate the owner is to go to where the problem occurs, which is usually a combination of in the home and when out on walks.

Ian is sure that training a dog to do set exercises in a controlled environment for 1 hour once a week, does little to change a dog’s behaviour, which is being established for the other 167 hours of the week. A common reaction from clients is that they can’t believe how well behaved their dog is when Ian is doing the behaviour rehabilitation; neither harsh methods nor force are ever used and the dogs are very affectionate to Ian at the end of any session. Ian’s philosophy is to give the owner a true friend who understands his or her place in the relationship, where the dog understands, at all times, what is being conveyed by the owner and has a state of mind that recognises the owner’s true value in a way that the dog understands through their own natural instincts.

Ian has referrals from several vets in the area and many clients come through personal recommendation from existing clients.
